Access to God

By Matthew Johnson
Access to God Post image

I came to Exodus 28-29 in my morning Bible reading plan. These two chapters were filled with a million details about making priestly garments and sanctifying priests — not things I wonder about daily! But nestled between all the linens, threads, embroidery, sacrifices, blood sprinkling, and which meats to eat and not eat, the following two verses excited me.

And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders ... (Exodus 28:12, KJV)
... and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually. (Exodus 28:30, KJV)

God wanted to see the names of the tribes of Israel every day. God wanted Israel to know His will every day. Israel was so blessed; they didn’t have this in Egypt! This is amazing!

What about us? Are you as blessed? As a believer, even more so! Notice what the Bible says about Jesus.

But this man ... hath an unchangeable priesthood ... he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:24–25, KJV)

Because Jesus ever lives to make intercession for us, notice the privilege we enjoy.

Let us ... come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16, KJV)

Because of Jesus, our names are ever and forever before God! Because of Jesus, we can access God’s help, grace, and will, all for the asking! Access to God is simply a prayer away. While you were sleeping last night, your name came up before God. The question on your mind this morning can be brought to God immediately.

You are blessed in Jesus Christ, and I am blessed! Let’s live in the reality of this blessing!

Thank you for joining me as I read and journal through the Bible chronologically. Today’s reflection: Exodus 28-29 (Day 39).
